A Great Day at Home!

Since Logan's daycare provider had to take the day off today, I took a holiday as well to spend the day with him, it was a great day.

We started the day off by sleeping in....well ok, some of you may not think that 7:20am is sleeping in, but for us, these days, that most definitely is! Logan and I got up and played in the basement for a while then I made us pancakes for breakfast...mmm. Logan can definitely pack away the pancakes!

Playing before breakfast.

After breakfast we went upstairs so I could have a shower...this was quite an adventure. Before I went back to work I used to shower all the time when Logan was awake. I would just leave the bathroom door open, close the gate at the top of the stairs and he would play in his room. Since I've been back to work, I shower before I get him out of bed in the morning. So today he was obviously already up, so I did the usual and he played in the bathroom. He threw things into the bathtub, he hid behind the shower curtain (both himself and the floor were getting quite wet!). Well, when I was turned around with my back to him washing my face, I heard some grunting and then a big thud. When I turned around I found my small man IN the bathtub, happy as can be! How he got in there? I can't be sure...obviously he climbed in some how. So I finished my shower and then we both got out and took off his soaking wet sleeper and diaper...that was one heavy diaper. I might have to start taking a different approach to showering.

Once we were ready to go, we headed out to Babies R Us to pick up a shower gift for a baby shower I have next weekend. We also browsed through Toys R Us and played with lots of the toys.

We came home, had lunch and then both of us took a nap...so relaxing. Oh yeah! When we were heading upstairs for lunch, Logan was pushing his car around the basement. I said "Come on Logan it's lunch time" and headed for the stairs myself. He stepped away from his car and took a bunch of steps ON HIS OWN towards the stairs! YEAH! This is so exciting. Scott and I have really been encouraging him to walk on his own lately and it seems to be working now. He seems very much able to walk just nervous to do it. Hopefully with some more encouragement we'll have a full-time walker (or runner) on our hands!

After Logan's nap we spent the rest of the afternoon just playing in the basement.

Riding his car backwards.

Trying to pull the animals out of the top of the silo. No matter how much I try to show him he can get them from the bottom, he repeatedly reaches in through the top, it's funny to watch.

I thought this picture was cute.

Snuggling with a bear while hanging out in the toy box.

We eventually headed upstairs to finish getting dinner ready. After dinner, Logan played with daddy before heading to bed. We had a great day!

This is Logan's infant carseat. It's been in the living room for a couple weeks since I used it when Logan was recovering from being sick so we could take a cab to daycare a couple times. He just barely fits in it still. He sure does look huge in it compared to when we brought him home from the hospital!

He was SO tiny!

Tomorrow it's back to work and daycare and then the weekend again! Wohoo!

Long time, no blog...oops.

So it's been a while since I blogged last...not much has been going on around here. I think we're all healthy again although it took quite a while to get that bug out of the house. Logan started acting like his normal self again late last week and he had a great weekend so that's good.

Other than that, Logan and Scott have started swimming lessons together on Saturday mornings which Logan loves. He splashes the water and claps his hands all through the lesson, I'm glad that he loves the water so much.

My parents are away on a Caribbean cruise this week so my mom graciously left us her car so Logan and I don't have to bus it at all this week! Thanks mom!

Hmm, I guess that's it...below are some pictures from the last little while. Enjoy.

Logan saying Hi. If you look closely, you can see his first fat lip. This incident included a little bit of blood and A LOT of crying!

Still a bit sick...

No exciting update again tonight.

I stayed home from work and kept Logan home from daycare today. He still seems to be under the weather and not able to keep much down. I took him to the doctor who didn't seem overly concerned but sent us with the req for a stool sample. The technician at the lab described how to collect a stool sample from Logan's diaper....I'm still not convinced I'll be able to get much...I guess we'll have to wait and see.

The doctor said to continue offering Logan water and to try and get some toast or applesauce into his tummy and to watch his wet diapers for the next 24 hours. He did eat a bit of toast and some applesauce for dinner and managed to keep it down, so that's progress!

I'm not sure what I'll do tomorrow, I think I'll wait and see how he is in the morning before I decide if I'll go to work or not.

Scott seems to be feeling better, definitely not 100% but better, so that's good.

Here's a picture of happy Logan, taken a while ago. Hopefully by the time I update again, we'll all be healthy!

Not Much To Post About

I know it's been a week since my last post, but there isn't really much to say. We were back to work this week. It seems like we're getting back into the swing of things. Logan wasn't too happy to be at daycare on Tuesday but seems to have settled in there again.

On Friday, our daycare provider called early in the morning saying she was too sick to care for Logan. Since I had some stuff to do at work, Scott stayed home for the day, they had a great day together! I worked Friday night for a few extra hours doing a training session.

Friday night, Logan went to bed with no problems then woke up around midnight to be sick. It was a long night from there without much sleep to be had for anyone.

I was back at work on Saturday to continue training and Scott and Logan spent the day lounging around home. Logan was ok on Saturday as long as he didn't eat. We did manage to get some food into him at dinner which he kept down. Today he has eaten, still not much but he seems to be in a better mood, but he's sleeping a lot during the day.

Scott though has the bug now. He's been in bed all day trying to sleep it off.

So other than me working, we have done nothing this weekend....well that's not true, I've done A LOT of laundry, haha. Hopefully I stay healthy and have a more exciting update for you next time!

Relaxing and Fun Week at Home!

A few people had said to me that I would be looking forward to going back to work and sending Logan to daycare after the holidays....this is certainly not the case. Having the last week or so to be at home with him has reminded me how awesome it is to be able to be at home with him. It's been nice to lounge around in pjs for part of the day and not have to rush him out the door...me being a stay-at-home mom is a goal that we continue to work towards and hopefully will make it into our reality!

Anyways, it has been a fun week. Scott returned to work for Monday, Tuesday and a half day on Wednesday. Logan and I spent those days hanging out at home playing with all his new toys, what fun!

On Tuesday once Scott got home from work the three of us headed over to Cindy and Behrouz's place for dinner and to take a look at the lights at Waterloo Park. We'd been trying to get there together for a number of weeks now so it was nice to be able to follow through with those plans. Cindy had a couple small gifts for Logan which he loved.

Logan opening up his new phone!

He knew what to do with it right away, he lifted it up to his ear and said "HI?", he loves phones.

We had a nice dinner (which I'm sure Cindy's dog Bailey enjoyed as well, courtesy of Logan!) and then headed out to see the lights at the park.

Cindy and Logan

As I've mentioned before, Logan seems to have a great love for books. Lots of time was spent this week reading books, one of his new favs is one sent to him by his Aunt Pamela for Christmas...there are A LOT of words in this books so we mostly just talk about what is in the pictures.

He loves his book Aunt Pamela!

Logan's great-grandma Tuumanen gave him a really cool rocker/push toy/trike for Christmas that we put together this week. Logan likes it and had a great time helping daddy put it together.

It goes like this dad!

The finished product.

Today there was enough snow on the ground for Scott to take Logan out on a sled ride. He seemed to have a good time, Scott said that he especially liked to go fast. He took him to a small hill and let him go down a few times.

"Go faster dad!"
This one's hard to see but if you click on it to make it bigger, you can see his smile.
Rosy cheeks after being outside.

Tonight we went to the pool at the Rec Centre for a swim. Tonight they had what they call "Kidsplash" and they have open the swirlpool (a nice and warm pool) and the tot pool (a shallow pool) for kids to play in. We tried Logan in the tot pool but it was too cold so we moved to the swirlpool and he had a great time, we may make swimming one of our regular activities for one evening a week especially since it's too dark and cold after supper to get outside. Logan and Scott will be starting swimming lessons this month so it was nice to get him in the pool again and make sure he still likes it.

A couple random pictures from our week...

Bubble bath!

High five!

And one of our Christmas tree since I haven't gotten one up yet...

Tomorrow we'll head to church in the morning and then spend the day at home getting ready to get back to reality on Monday with work and daycare (well grandma on Monday, daycare on Tuesday).

Christmas in Ottawa

My dad's older brother and his family live in Ottawa, so every few years we take our extended family Christmas to their place so that they don't have to travel EVERY year. On Boxing Day we loaded Logan and all of our stuff into the car and hoped for a good trip!

Logan was fussy already when we started the trip so Scott gave him his wallet to keep him happy for a while.

The total trip each way took us 5.5 hours with just one stop. Before the trip lots of people were asking if Logan was a car sleeper. I answered that yes, he usually does sleep in the car. Well not this time...on the way to Ottawa he slept for a grand total of....30 minutes! And on the way home he slept for about 1 hour and 40minutes (split into two naps). So my answer now is, no he isn't a car sleeper. Despite the lack of napping time he was SO good in the car and was kept happy by his music, snacks and toys. It was a good trip in the car.

Amusing himself with two sippy cups. You'll notice that he isnt' wearing any socks. If we put him in the car without shoes or boots on the first thing he does is pull off his socks!

Trying to pull the pillow off his carseat.

We stayed a the house of a friend of my aunt and uncle while in Ottawa. She was out of town and was gracious enough to have us (as well as my parents and brother) stay at her place. However, since she doesn't have children, her house was understandably not child-proofed which provided Logan with so many things to check out.

Reading a magazine.

We had a great visit with family for the couple of days that we were there. Logan was pretty overtired by the end but he did really well too. My aunt and uncle have a dog named Mya that REALLY liked Logan. She followed us all over the house and napped when Logan did since she was so tired from following us around.

Scott helping Logan have a snack with Mya longing watching hoping that some of the snack may fall to the floor.

We had a couple great meals, played a lot of Guitar Hero, visited with family and opened some Christmas gifts.

The drive home went well as well. Logan napped more this time so that was good. We were all glad to be home and sleep in our beds again.

Since we got home on Sunday, Logan and I have just been hanging out at home, enjoying our time together! I'm sure I'll post some pictures from our days at home soon!

Christmas Day (Part 2)

For breakfast on Christmas morning we had cinnamon buns which Logan really liked...well really, he liked the icing, but I think he managed to eat some of the buns too.
Can we have these every morning?

After breakfast we headed back into the living room to open the gifts under the tree. Logan loved ripping off the paper and enjoying each toy.

Since my sister is in Lake Louise for Christmas this year, she sent her gifts in the mail to us. Scott and I got a puzzle of Lake Louise and an inukshuk. And she sent Logan a couple books and a cute Lake Louise t-shirt. Aunt Pamela, here are some pictures of Logan opening your gift to him.

Thanks!

Logan's biggest gift was a Little People set, the amusement park. He likes it now but I think on Christmas morning his favourite part was unwrapping the big box and playing in it!

After Logan's nap we headed over to New Hamburg to Scott's parents place for dinner and a few more gifts. Unfortunately Scott's mom blew her knee out that morning and had just returned home before dinner. Even though she was in quite a bit of pain it was nice to have her at dinner.

Scott's brother and his wife also announced that they are expecting a baby in June! We look forward to being an aunt and uncle and for a new cousin for Logan to play with. Congratulations guys!

Logan was one tired little man when we got home and went straight to bed but it's pretty safe to say that he enjoyed his 2nd Christmas!

Christmas Day (Part 1)

Logan woke up bright and early on Christmas, as per usual. He had no idea what kind of day he was awaking too, but he was ready to go!

Merry Christmas!

Once we had Logan changed, we headed down to the living room to see if Santa had visited over night. He indeed had and Logan was excited about what was left for him.

Meeting his new bear.
"I just love this bear mommy, I want to hug him all the time!"

We took our time looking through our stockings and the many treasures that awaited us. We had to help Logan along a little bit as he wanted to play with everything that he pulled out.

Un-stuffing his stocking.
Trying to eat his orange from the toe of the stocking.
I helped him get the orange peeled...here he is holding the section of orange in his mouth.

Once Logan had his stocking emptied and a bunch of new stuff to look at, Scott and I took a look at ours.

Scott, checking out his "professional farter" pen...haha.

Logan helping daddy.

Playing with mommy's new whisk.

Once the stockings were emptied, Logan was getting pretty hungry for breakfast, so we took an intermission from Christmas morning for a bite to eat. Before grabbing breakfast, I tried once again to get a family picture...it was so much easier last year when he didn't move!

The best of the bunch...
