Logan Starts Learning to Skate

On Monday night, Logan took to the ice and tried out skating for the first time. He was VERY excited and as he waited for the zamboni to clear the ice, he walked around confidently in his skates and even jumped around a bit.

Watching the zamboni.

Testing out his "off ice" skills.

All set to go!

I reminded him that the ice would be quite slippery and that all he had to do was try his best and then sent him on his way.

He did ok at first. He managed to get up over and over and over again without help but he usually fell pretty quickly. He would stand up with his feet SO far a part that he would have no hope in staying on his feet. He did get frustrated, I think I would have too. He spent 45 minutes out there just falling and getting back up. But he did great, didn't give up and agreed to go back again next week!

On his feet!

Trying to get up...

Almost there!

Standing again!

Feeling a bit sad near the end of the lesson.

We were very proud of Logan and happy that he wasn't one of "those" kids kicking and screaming and crawling off the ice. We'll see what happens next Monday when I tell him it's skating day again!

Celebrating Dad's Birthday

On Sunday my parents met us at church and then came over for lunch for my dad's birthday.

We had homemade split pea and ham soup with cheese bread for lunch and an "apple cinnamon flatbread" for dessert. It was a yummy meal!

The birthday "cake".

Blowing out the candles.

"Helping" grandpa open his gifts.

It's summer sausage!

Here's a collection of pictures trying to get a good one of dad and the boys...(Mom, did you get a better one? haha)

Happy Birthday!

Flashback: Christmas with the Millers

We went over to Todd and Helena's in the afternoon on Christmas Day. They hosted a yummy meal and the boys had a great time playing with their cousin, Joel, and checking out all his toys!

Joel checks out one of his presents.

This one looks familiar...

Jacob's turn!

Something quite "juvenile" came over Scott and Todd as they opened their gifts...

Making sure everything is the same...

Playing a new game that he got from Great-Grandma and Great-Grandpa.

Happy Birthday Dad!

Today is my dad's birthday which he also shares with the late Elvis Presley.

He and my mom are coming over today for lunch to celebrate! This is a bit of challenging feat since he seems to be traveling A LOT this month.

With his first grandchild.

With mom.

With everyone.

Happy Birthday, Dad/Grandpa!

Flashback: Christmas Morning

Pretty much just pictures...it was Christmas morning, we were awake around 7am and then opened the gifts!

Jacob checks out his truck from Santa.

Logan models his new hat.

Digging into his stocking.

Checking out the loot.

Stickers!

A spinning toothbrush - this is still a fave for both of them, haha.

Getting the truck working.

Admiring his stuff from Santa.

Sigmund really enjoyed the catnip that she got.

Getting into the wrapped gifts.

A race car driver!

Checking himself out in the mirror.

It's so cute!

Scott telling Logan that this gift is from Aunt Pamela.

New Pjs! Thanks Aunt Pamela!

Still playing with the truck...

Scott got a new hat and a gift card from Pamela.

Checking out a new puzzle from Aunt Pamela.

Still more gifts?

"Oh wow! .... What is this?"

Already engrossed in his new LeapPad.

This was a case for his LeapPad from Grandma and Grandpa. He kept trying to open it but I kept telling him to open something else since he wouldn't know what to do with it until he had the LeapPad. He was SO happy when I finally told him he could open it.

Scott gets in on the truck action.

It was a great morning...judging from the following pictures, I think everyone was happy!

We had a quiet day at home and then headed over to Todd and Helena's after nap time to celebrate with Scott's family.
