Christmas Eve

We had a pretty quiet day at home today. I made some sugar cookies which we decorated in the afternoon but other than that, we mostly just lazed around!

We headed to church for the "Child Friendly" Service at 5pm. It was a nicely done service. Hitting all the important points and keeping it short at the same time.

I tried to get a good pic of the boys together before we left...

(Jacob's tongue is green from eating sprinkles...)

A really good one of the four of us.

After church we came home and had supper and then got ready for Santa's arrival.

Getting ready for supper.

3 guys enjoying dinner.

Cookies, chocolate milk and a note for Santa. Veggies for the reindeer.

Christmas jammies!

Ready to read a story.

Haha.

The "cat" stocking.

A reminder of the reason for the season.

Merry Christmas!

Decorating the Christmas Tree

As you know, we got our Christmas tree almost a couple weeks ago. We did put the lights and star on that weekend and decorate it with the boys. But now, almost 2 weeks later, it sits in the living room with minimal decorations still, waiting for me to finish the decorating.

Hopefully I'll still get to it this week but I thought I'd post the pictures of us getting it started!

Scott putting on the lights.

We had to trim a bit off the top to the get the start to fit, haha.

Ok, so maybe it was a lot.

Finally, it fits!

Without decorations (it doesn't look too much different than this now...)

Helping Logan put on an ornament.

And Jacob.

Hopefully I'll get the rest of the ornaments up before Christmas Day!

Thanks, Grandma

Last week when my mom visited she gave the boys each a package of Christmas kleenexes. She thought they could put them in their coat pocket and use them as needed.

As you can tell from the picture, they weren't exactly used for nose wiping. But they did provide entertainment!

Thanks, Grandma!

Visiting Great Grandma

Yesterday afternoon we took a drive up to Woodstock to visit my grandma (my mom's mom). Her health seems to be declining and I wanted her to be able to see the boys when she is still getting up and around.

The boys each drew her a picture and delighted her (and the other residents) with their smiles and general cuteness.

The boys watch as she puts on her lipstick.

She never liked when we watched her put on her lipstick and turned to the boys and told them the same thing!

Logan got distracted looking at something else...maybe I should crop him out since it's a good picture of Jacob and grandma.

This is a pretty good one!

Navy Club Kid's Christmas Party

(*Warning* There are A LOT of pictures with this post)

On Sunday we headed to the annual Christmas party put on by the Naval Association in Waterloo of which Scott's dad is a member. The party used to be held for the member's children but now it's mostly the grandchildren of the members who attend. There was a great crowd out yesterday!

Eric Traplin (a local children's entertainer) started off the party. Logan and Joel had a great time dancing away and enjoying the music. Jacob, however wasn't really into it and wouldn't leave our sides.

Here they are dancing away.

Dancing with grandma.

The best picture I got of them together, haha.

:)

Grandma is looking for a dance partner...Logan's not very interested.

Logan's obsessed with putting his hands in his pockets.

Playing the tambourine in one of the songs.

Checking out Joel's moves.

Jacob only wanted to take part when the bubbles were out!

Everyone loves the bubbles.

Not a very happy guy.

Since he wasn't enjoying the music, I think he got pretty bored.

Ok mom, that's enough pictures!

Closer to the end of the music, he was ok to be at the back with Grandma.

NOW he's a happy guy; hotdogs, french fries and ketchup!

This guy was hungry from all the dancing he did.

Scott was there too!

I think someone else was using my camera...here's Logan's apple juice!

After lunch, Santa arrived. Each child gets a gift and a chance to sit with Santa. We had seen Santa the day before at another event and Jacob wasn't really interested in Santa, so I didn't know how it would go.

Hi Santa!

Joel was up first.

Then Jacob! I'm so disappointed that this one is blurry. :( He was very happy to sit with Santa.

He's not looking, but at least it's clear!

Logan too!

Checking out what's under the paper...

Under Logan's close supervision.

It's an airplane!

And a ViewMaster projector for Logan!
