Another Weekend Over

This weekend we didn't have any plans so we really enjoyed just relaxing and spending time at home. Logan came down with yet another cold so it was nice to be able to stay home a bit and let him get well again.

Since Scott will be bowling in the Open Tournament next weekend, we thought we'd head to the bowling alley on Saturday morning for him to get in a few practice games. It was pretty busy at the lanes so Logan was really quiet at first and just sat on my lap. Once he got comfortable though, he was happy to stand at the ball return again waiting for all the balls to come flying back. (I have a cute picture but for some reason I can't get it to upload).

After his nap on Saturday, we went out for a walk in the snow. It seems pretty early to have this much snow that isn't melting but we can't stay in the house all winter. Logan's been out in the snow at daycare already but we haven't seen his reaction yet. He wasn't too sure at first and couldn't really move very well in all his warm clothes...he liked it better in the stroller.
Not too sure

"Can I go back in my stroller now?"

Warming his hands by the fire after playing outside.

The cats love the fireplace! Since we use the fireplace almost exclusively to heat our house, it's on a lot so the basement can get pretty warm. The cats love it and spend most of their time downstairs basking in the heat. Here's a funny picture of Peanut and Cheeto trying to "share" their cat house and be close to the fire. Peanut was in there first and then Cheeto joined her...Peanut doesn't look too impressed.

Today we stayed home from church since Logan is still getting over a cold. We didn't want him to spread it to the rest of the kids in the nursery...not that he stays in the nursery but that's a whole other story!

My parents came over and we all went out for lunch and then Scott and I left Logan here with my parents so that we could go visit my grandma in the hospital. My grandma's had a rough week and has been in the hospital since Wednesday. She's now recovering from a broken ankle among other things. She'll be in the hospital for a bit longer and then moved to a temporary residence where she can be while her ankle heals. We didn't stay for long since grandma was pretty tired but it was nice to see her. Prayers for her ankle to heal quickly would be appreciated as well as for a bed to open in a great care facility for her.

Tomorrow I'm back to work...things are going ok. Logan loves daycare though, so that's great. It's bittersweet but I'm so glad that we found a good match for him. If I can't be home with him, I'm glad that he's somewhere where he really likes it.

Here are a few other random pictures from the weekend.

This one is for Uncle Scott...Logan loves his basketball net! He's getting really good at sinking the baskets and cheers every time he gets one in.

Weekend Ramblings

Sunday night is here already, back to work and daycare tomorrow.

We were hoping to hit up the Santa Claus Parade in Kitchener this weekend but unfortunately, it was raining on Saturday morning so we decided not to go. Hopefully the weather will be better in a couple weeks so that Logan and I can go to the parade in Norwich.

Instead, we went to the mall in Cambridge on Saturday afternoon. We mostly just window shopped but did manage to grab a couple stocking stuffers for Logan and a great deal on a picture frame. It's one of those ones that stands on the floor and holds 5 pictures...I've wanted one for a while and the price of this one was too good to pass up. Now I just need to get some pictures to put in it.

After dinner, I took the picture frame out of the box and Scott and I spent a long time pulling Logan around the living room on the flattened box. Who knew it would provide so much fun!

Going for a ride

Whee! This is fun!

Our first snowfall came on Saturday night, we didn't get too much but it was certainly enough to cover everything in white. It's the heavy wet kind so it looks really pretty hanging on all the tree limbs.

I took this picture before we went to bed on Saturday night

Today we went to church and then spent the afternoon hanging out at home. Logan was a bit "off" today...we're not sure why. We see the beginnings of a couple teeth on the top as well as an increase in drool, so maybe that was bothering him. He had a good nap this afternoon though which is good.

Logan is very interested in the fireplace...here's him and Scott sitting in front of it warming their hands. I thought it was a cute pic of the two of them.

In other Logan news, we seem to have dropped his last bottle! He's been down to just one bottle (right before bed) for well over a month now and I've known that he doesn't need it that it's just a habit. So last night we tried bedtime without the bottle. He put up a bit of a fight but he did fall asleep without too much complaining. Tonight we did our "normal" bedtime routine (pjs, book, singing) without the bottle and it went much better and he was out in no time. Since I had never intended to have Logan on a bottle, it was important to me to not have him on it for too long past 1 year. At the same time, it really feels like he's growing up so fast now and dropping that last bottle is certainly bittersweet.

Tomorrow is Logan's 13 month "birthday"! Crazy, eh? Now that Logan has been around for a whole year, I keep thinking back to "last year at this time" and remember how different life is now. No longer are we celebrating lots of firsts...but many seconds!

13 months, tomorrow.

A Trip to the Royal Winter Fair

On Saturday we took Logan to the Royal Winter Fair in Toronto. I love the Royal and try to go every year. We missed going last year since Logan was just a newborn but it was really exciting for me to get to take him this year.

He loved seeing all the animals and had a great time at the "petting zoo" where he could actually touch the goats.

Here he is helping daddy

Isn't this the cutest lamb ever?

We spent the afternoon walking around, checking out all the exhibits...Logan was a real trooper.

He loved this giant puzzle and kept trying to climb on it!

We were planning on attending the auction of the dairy calf that was being auctioned to create a memorial fund in memory of my parent's friend's late son, David, but we had some time to kill before the auction. So we found a quieter area and let Logan out of his stroller to crawl around a bit. He loved the freedom of not being strapped in.

Here he is snuggling with his bear when out of his stroller. "Snuggling" like this is something that he's just started doing recently...it's cute.

The auction of David's calf went well and raised $40 000! A great memorial for him.

Here is David's dad (Paul) showing the calf off

Back to Work and a Visit from Aunt Pamela

Last weekend my sister was in town visiting as she relocates from New Brunswick to Lake Louise. She's in the area for about a week before heading to her next home. She enjoyed spending some time with Logan!

He loved all the extra attention!

Trying to get into Aunt Pamela's purse

I've been back to work for just over a week now...it's going alright. Logan seems to be adjusting well to daycare. The toughest part of the day for him is near the end when he sees other kids getting picked up. He gets frustrated waiting for us to come get him. Other than that it's going great...he takes great naps and is a champion eater! I'm so relieved that he seems to be enjoying himself.

Here are a few odds and ends of pictures...
Logan seems to have figured out how to stand on his tip toes to get closer to the things he wants!

Waiting for his bath!

Halloween Fun

Catching up....again.

Halloween was a beautiful day weather-wise....since it was my last day off before returning to work, Logan and I spent the day just hanging out together and playing outside since it was so nice.

Logan is inspecting the pumpkin here, just after this picture was taken, he gave the pumpkin a big kiss!

Peek-a-boo! I see you!

We didn't have too much planned for Halloween night, especially since our little man has a very strict bedtime of 7pm. We did buy him a costume though and planned to visit Todd and Helena, Cindy and my aunt and uncle.

Our little monkey!

Posing by the pumpkin

The night didn't really go as planned...Logan was fine in the car but was really upset at each house we stopped at, so the visits didn't last long and there weren't really any pictures to be taken. I'm glad we took him out but I'm still unsure as to why he was so upset. Each time we got him back to the car, he was happy and chatting away to himself in the backseat. Scott thinks it might have had something to do with his transition to daycare and not wanting us to leave him at another strange house.

Anyways, our last stop was at my aunt and uncle's house. My aunt tried giving Logan a little box of Smarties in an attempt to calm him down. We thought he might like shaking it. Well that didn't work but on the car ride home, he did manage to eat through the box and get a couple Smarties out! He had a blue face and tongue that night...

Showing off his love of Smarties.

Maybe next Halloween we'll be a bit more successful....he was pretty cute in his costume though!
