African Lion Safari

Scott had never been to African Lion Safari so we though in honour of our anniversary and Father's Day, we would check it out today. It was supposed to be a great day weather wise so we got up and headed out shortly after breakfast.

Helping daddy open his Father's Day gift that Logan made at daycare.

Family picture before going to the safari...ok so it was REALLY sunny out.

Luckily, Logan fell asleep in the car on the way there and slept while we waited in line (for what seemed like forever) to get in. I guess everyone thought it would be a great idea to get there when it opened. Scott and I talked about whether it would be best to take our own car through the safari or to go on the bus. In the end, we went in our own car thinking that we would hopefully see more and be able to do it at our own pace, which is very important with Logan. We made a great choice! Logan sat up front on my lap and really did pay pretty good attention to the animals outside. Although I think his favourite things would be turning on the 4-way flashers and the windshield wipers...haha.

Positioned on mommy's lap, all ready for the action!

A lion - the animals were all SO active...they were roaming all over the place, right up to car windows and across the road, such a neat experience.

Ok mom, take another one of me now!

After some discussion, we did decide to go through the monkeys...no damage to our car, but man they are ALL over the place.

If you look closely, you can see the monkey jumping on that vehicles roof top carrier. They kept climbing up and taking turns.

Monkey on our roof...his foot coming down onto the windshield.

Climbing down the back window. Two monkeys rode on our car until the end of this exhibit, once we got to the end they jumped off on their own and headed back to where all the others were.

An ostrich tapping on our window...Logan thought this was so neat.

A rhino peeing...Scott thought this was SO funny so he took a picture.

I LOVE giraffes...this one had it's legs spread apart so he could lean down and drink.

Crossing in front of our car.

Near the end, Logan was getting really antsy, so he helped daddy drive.

After we'd been through the game reserve, we parked the car and headed to the other attractions. We were there at a great time and it wasn't that busy at all.

I took this when we were waiting to go on a train ride. Sometimes Logan is SO serious and is just always thinking...this pose really captures him.

Trying on daddy's glasses.

Three of us on the train (ok, so I need to work on the self portrait thing).

Serious boy on the train.

After the train ride we walked to see the elephants and then stopped to have lunch. We knew we would be nearing nap time shortly, so we headed to the splash park so that we didn't miss out on that...Logan LOVED it.

He got that pail as part of his lunch and lugged it all through the splash pad.

Splashing

Going down the slide...I took this shot from the top. Logan went down the slide backwards, crawling the whole way. I think there were way too many kids there for him, he was so distracted.

Walking through the water.

I was sitting on the edge watching while he and Scott roamed through the water. Logan kept running out of the water and sitting up on the edge, it was funny.

When we were getting ready to go, we had Logan half undressed (just in his swim diaper) and he got up and ran towards the water. He looked so funny in his little diaper and hat and white pasty body!

After the splash pad, we made a quick trip to the petting zoo before heading home.

Petting a goat.

Tired boy, ready to go home.

Logan fell asleep almost instantly in the car and then continued to sleep once we got home. We had a nice dinner together and then played outside before he went to bed early. It was a busy day for him (and me)!

Our next few weekends are pretty busy with BBQs and other summer fun, but possibly the most exciting news is that I'm on the countdown to be done work! My last day is July 31...only a few weeks left to go. I'll have at least a month (hopefully more) at home with Logan before the new baby makes his or her appearance.

Happy Father's Day!

That serious boy looks just like his mother used to. :-) Great pics and I like the written parts too! And I get to see my boy every week, but there is always something new for me! Super!
