Photography Class

My photography class is now over. It was a short 8 week introduction to using our cameras. He quite a bit of theory and showed us how to use our cameras properly and out of the "automatic function". I've learned a lot and still have more to learn but when I DO get a good picture I'm happy that I spent the time learning. The more I practice, the better I will get.

There is a follow up class that teaches more advanced application of the skills that we have learned. After I practice some more, I will likely take this course as well

We took a field trip to Uptown Waterloo a couple of weeks ago where we learned to shoot night time shots, it was chilly, but fun!

My shot of the moon!

We were at the top of a 6 story parking garage so we were able to get some cool shots.

These cranes looked like they were almost touching the clouds!

My attempt at being artistic...

A train coming through.

King Street at night.

We all took some pictures into our last class to share. The following ones are ones that I took that the instructor commented on.

This one is hard to see without zooming in. But I did good job of blurring out the background so that you could really see the spider and it's web.

I was trying to focus on Logan in this shot and blur out the backbut got he opposite effect, it looks cool though.

A neat shot of the sky.

The Doodlebops!

Last Saturday, my mom and I took Logan to see the Doodlebops. The Doodlebops are a "rock band" for kids and have a TV show on CBC that Logan likes to watch. We saw them at a free show in the summer which he enjoyed so we thought he'd like this as well.

He did have a great time but he is awfully serious. He was so interested in what was going on around him and really noticed all the different lights. He new many of the songs since we have a Doodlebops CD too!

Reading about an upcoming Caillou show before the Doodlebops came on stage.

Checking out his surroundings.

Getting the full experience out of theatre chairs!

Checking out what was behind us.

This is how he sat for most of the show...

Moe, Rooney and DeeDee Doodle :)

Logan's 3rd Birthday

It's hard to believe that Logan is 3 years old now. I know that everyone says it but time goes by SO quickly. Here is the post from Logan's First Birthday. Oops, it doesn't look like I did one for his second birthday.

We started the day with chocolate chip pancakes, yum!

The birthday boy!

Jacob enjoyed them too.

And then moved on to some gift opening.

He had been asking for a dump truck for a couple of weeks; so we got him one!

Opening his gifts. Yes I wrapped them in newspaper...he doesn't know the difference!

He's a pretty serious gift opener.

I tried to take a picture of them together...see how well it went?

Aunt Pamela (and several others) called to wish Logan a happy birthday. Each time he was talking to someone he went and sat on the chair to chat, it was so funny.

After the boy's naps, Scott's mom and dad came by to have a birthday meal with us.

Opening his gift from the Millers.

It's a computer!

I think he was sending an email in this picture.

Waiting for his birthday cake.

Blowing out the candles!

Looking back on the pictures from last year, Logan really seems to have grown up this year. He communicates so well with us and can do so much on his own. It's crazy to think that he'll be old enough to go to school next year!

Happy Birthday big man!

A Trip to the Pumpkin Patch

Last weekend we headed out to Nauman's Farm to pick up our pumpkins. Last year (you can read the post here), I think we picked the coldest day ever. So this year we picked a nice sunny and relatively warm Saturday morning to head out. Since the boys are early risers we were able to arrive right when they opened and be the only ones there!

In search of the perfect pumpkin...

A bit bigger than last year!

He was too small to check his height last year. But with a little help, he is successful this year!

Pumpkinhead Logan

Checking out what's going on beside him.

Watching the pumpkin picking from the sidelines.

Logan's choice.

"A little help here?"

Trying to pull his pumpkin.

An overexposed picture in which neither of the boys were looking.

Logan giving Jacob the pumpkin that he picked for him.

A colourful picture of all the gourds for sale.

Flashback: Thanksgiving Monday

On Thanksgiving Monday morning we got up bright and early and headed to Uptown Waterloo to take in the Oktoberfest parade. I have no idea who made the decision to start the parade at 8:30am but to get a decent seat, you need to get there by 7:30am! That's early even for us!

The boys and I waiting for the parade to start.

Checking down the street to see if anything is coming.

Beautiful fall colours.

Jacob was SO captivated by the parade. He sat very still in his stroller for quite a while.

The parade attracts MANY people.

:)

Watching the parade.

About half way through he was done sitting in the stroller and I ended up holding him. I'm glad he doesn't weigh more than he does!

We stayed just about to the end of the parade. Unfortunately it really started raining so we ended up just leaving. The kids were done watching anyways, I think. We headed home, had lunch and got the house ready for a visit from my family.

The table all set for our Thanksgiving/Logan's birthday meal.

Aren't I artistic?

Trying out his new glasses that came with a birthday gift.

Getting some help from Aunt Pamela to get his gifts open.

Thundersticks!

A great looking turkey!

Birthday cupcakes (gluten free).

Not sure what's going on...

He blew the candles out as soon as I put the plate down!

Pretty excited about the cupcakes.

Mmmm!

Jacob getting in on the cupcake action.

It was nice to have the whole family together to celebrate Logan's birthday.
