An Afternoon at the Park

On Sunday afternoon, Scott was out of town for a bowling practice, so I packed the boys up and we headed to Waterloo Park to check out the animals and enjoy the nice weather.

(And to take lots of pictures.)

Chatting with the goat.

I thought he looked like such a little man when he was walking around. I took these pictures when I was walking behind him (obviously). Since he always rushes the camera these days, one from behind turn out SO much better!

Jacob was there too! Just chillin' out in the stroller.

He was waving, saying "Hi, Bunny."

This was the only thing he did at the playground. He then walked over to me and said "All done, Mommy."

Since he didn't want to play and I didn't want to go home, we wandered around a bit more and settled by a tree for a while.

Striking a pose.

Likely giving me instructions on what to do next.

Carefully picking a "flower".

Jacob getting in on the flower picking...

...and eating!

Logan found these trees to squeeze between.

And then sat down and announced he was staying right there.

We stopped and I was hoping to take a few pictures of the boys on their own and then some together...yeah I got a few but not what I was hoping for.

Jacob

I love how his head is tilted!

Cute shot of Logan.

From above.

Exploring "off the beaten path".

It was a great afternoon!

A New Haircut

Logan's hair seems to be growing quite quickly these days. It is still a bit sparse on the sides and at the front but I think he may be cursed with thin hair anyways.

I took him in for a cut this week. He's come a long way from his first haircut. This time he sat in a fire engine, watched his Doodlebops movie and didn't even need Blue Bear!

It's a bit dark but there's the new short cut!

Enjoying his orange sucker.

A new haircut, a balloon and a sucker!

Something that the Tent Caterpillars are Good For

So some of the caterpillars still seemed to be kicking around our yard. On Sunday morning though they occupied three kids for a long time. We were outside as were our neighbours whose two little ones wandered over and enjoyed the caterpillars.

Logan and Nolan inspecting.

Getting a closer look.

Nolan's sister, Olivia, arrives to check it out.

"Look Olivia, a caterpillar."

I think he got a bit too close for Olivia's comfort!

They were running around collecting leaves to make a bed for the caterpillars.

Olivia chats with Jacob.

After everyone went inside for lunch, I sent Scott out side to rid our yard of the caterpillars...

They Were Trying to Kill Our Tree

Earlier in the week I noticed a nasty nest of tent caterpillars in one of the trees in our backyard. Ew. I knew that we had to get rid of it soon since the branch that the nest was on was already dead; it doesn't take long for them to over take a whole tree!

Way up high!

How are we going to get at it?

The branch was up pretty high on the tree so Scott got out the tree trimmer and a ladder, hoping to be able to reach it. Unfortunately, it wasn't long enough. Scott got a broom handle and added it making it JUST long enough to reach the nest.

If you click on the picture, you can see better.

Can't quite reach.

The rest of the pictures are pretty gross...

The nest once we got it down.

The other side. You can see the caterpillars coming out and on the other end of the nest, you can see all the little eggs.

The size of the nest in relation to the branch.

Burning them out of the nest.

They just kept hanging on!

Eww. Hundreds of caterpillars.

So that nest is gone, the caterpillars are too. Yesterday when I was lying on the bed looking out the window, I noticed another nest. Same tree. Higher branch. NO idea how we'll get it down.

New Camera!

So with some help from Mom and Dad as an anniversary gift, we splurged on a new camera this week after we found one on a great sale at Future Shop. We (well I) take a lot of pictures and we've been hoping for a while to be able to upgrade our camera in the hopes of getting even better shots.

There is so much reading and learning to do to figure out how to use the camera to it's potential, but for now, it's fun just to get used to it.

Here are some good shots of me "practicing".

Flowers from my birthday.

Almost ready to bloom.

A cute subject.

I love how clear the screen is in this picture.

Bath Night!

Ever since the tiles fell off the wall in the bathroom, Logan has been pretty afraid of the bathtub. We thought at first it was because of the tiles (Thanks Riann!) but have since talked about it. How it wasn't his fault and that it won't happen again since Daddy fixed it.

Now he just seems to be afraid of the water. We've tried bathing with him, giving him a shower and tonnes of other things to help him get over it. Nothing has worked. He always tells us that he doesn't need a bath and then once we get him in the tub, he freaks out when it's time to be washed.

One night this week, I thought maybe we'd try giving the boys a bath together to see if that helps. Luckily, it did! Logan still wasn't super excited about having his hair washed but there were fewer tears and I think they actually had fun too.

It was hard to take a picture of both of them at once so here's once of each of them.

Logan loved pouring water over Jacob's head and Jacob didn't seem to mind either!

Munching on a toy.

A fun shot of Logan and Scott after bath time.
