Bowling Achievement

Logan and Scott attended the annual bowling banquet a couple of weeks ago. Logan had a fabulous bowling year. He moved up to the Bantam division and learned to bowl one handed. He struggled at first, but his bowling really took off in the second half of the season.

He was awarded the Bowler of the Year award for having the highest pins over average among the bantam boys. He bowled in a tournament with other boys from around our area who were also the Bowler of the Year and he placed third!

He continues to enjoy bowling and plans to return again in the fall.

Bowling Banquet

Yesterday was the annual bowling banquet. Logan's third banquet and Jacob's first as an actual bowler! Scott took the boys alone as I was seeing Stars On Ice (in very fabulous seats) with my mom and we opted to leave Norah at home with a baby sitter.

This year, they bowled at Towne Bowl as Waterloo Lanes is no longer in existence. It's a smaller league but still lots of fun. This year, we took advantage of instruction clinics offered by the league which allowed them more time on the lanes to figure things out.

Checking out the trophies before things started.
Logan bowled really well this year! He improved on his technique and really figured out HOW to bowl well. He won the award for "Most Improved Peewee" by increasing his average by 11 points on last year! He also was the "Triple Crown Winner". He had the highest single game (124), highest average (80) and highest double score (226) among the peewee boys, quite the accomplishment. He really got the hang of bowling this year!
Accepting one of the awards.
Proud guy!
This was Jacob's first year bowling and he did great too. Jacob has a very optimistic view in life and has seen bowling the same way. He just walks up and throws his ball every single time. No forethought, little disappointment, just getting the job done! He did bowl really well for his first year though! He and his team mate had the most points during the regular season of play which brought them a trophy! He will definitely be excited to bowl again next year.

Getting his trophy.
Happy with his teammate!
Between the two of them they collected 12 badges yesterday too....added to the ones that I still haven't sewn from this season, it's a lot! I've enlisted help from a friend for the sewing so the shirts are ready for the fall!

Another great season of bowling done!

You can read about last year's banquet, 2013 and also the year before, 2012.

March Break Round Up

A few pictures of our crazy kids during March Break.

I just thought it was funny how they were a sitting there waiting to go somewhere. Obviously they weren't interested in getting their picture taken.

Norah happy to have found an unguarded roll of paper towel.

Norah and I visited her friend R who was born just a week after Norah. We haven't seen R in a while but the girls played well together. Sorry for the poor photos, taking pictures of TWO 21 month olds is hard.

The boys showing off their new shirts from Grandma and Grandpa's latest cruise.
We took the boys bowing and Jacob bowled his first 100 game! (His actual score is the one in the tenth frame, not the total).

Simple Saturday

Today was a pretty simple day. We had planned to go to the Waterloo Region Museum after bowling this morning but when we got there it wasn't open yet (what place opens at 11am on a Saturday?!?) so we decided to just go home since it would be too long of a wait for it to open. Somehow though we did manage to fill our day!

Couldn't get one without food in her mouth...
The boys doing their thing.
Doing a St. Patricks Day craft.
Norah's first real craft!
The boy's finished product.

The front. Ok, truth be told, she thought the glue was a "dip" for her fruit loops and never got any stuck on. She is only left with a rainbow of glue.
What she did for most of the craft time.
Logan writing a letter to someone special.
After supper, Scott took the boys swimming at the Rec Centre but I stayed home with Norah. The sun was shining so I took her out for a walk but the wind was SO cold that we weren't out for long. She did, however, enjoy the puddles! Aren't her pink splash pants cute? They even have little purple bows on them. Whoever thought that light pink was a good idea as a colour for outerwear hasn't met my daughter yet though.
She loves the outdoors! SHe's going to love summer.

Bring a Buddy

Last month, the boys participated in their bowling league's annual Bring-A-Buddy tournament. It's simple, you bring a (non bowling) buddy and bowl as a team! In previous years, Jacob has been Logan's buddy but now that they are both bowling, the got to bring actual friends!

Logan and his friend from school.
The best pic that Scott got of Jacob and William.
They had fun, really! He's just a shy kid.
All four boys at Tim Hortons celebrating their success!

Bowling Banquet 2013

Last weekend, Logan, Scott and I attended Logan's bowling banquet. Jacob and Norah spent the afternoon at home with grandma. The banquet celebrated the year's bowling and handed out trophies and awards to many of the children.

The banquet was special this years as the lanes that Logan (and Scott) bowl at, Waterloo Lanes, will be closing this weekend. The building is leased, and the lease is up. They are looking for a new spot to have the lanes but it's still up in the air, so the future of Waterloo Lanes is still unknown.

A serious boy waiting for things to start.
Logan showing off a picture drawn by his friend and team mate, Ashley.
The proud Daddy.
Logan bowed well this year, improving greatly on his skill from last year. He came home from the banquet with 2 trophies, 2 plaques and many more badges than this mama is excited about sewing on his shirt.

This trophy was from the Family Twosome. Logan and Scott bowled together, as a team and their overall score won them the Father and Son category.
Logan was also the "Bowler of the Year" in his division. He was Bowler of the  Month in  January (for having the highest pins over average that month) which qualified him to bowl in Bowler of the Year tournament (just at Waterloo Lanes), which he won! This win qualified him to bowl in a tournament this weekend with kids from other bowling alleys.

Receiving his trophy for being a member of the winning team during the first half of the season.
A proud Most Improved Bowler. He improved his average by 17 points this season, ending with an average of 70.
Pretty good year for him.
Just chilling out through the rest of the banquet.
Proud guy.
:)
We are hopeful that he will be able to continue to bowl in Waterloo in September (with Jacob joining him!) but if that doesn't happen, he'll start the year at the lanes in Kitchener. He loves bowling!

Logan's Bowling Banquet

Logan's bowling season ended a couple weeks ago and this past Sunday, we attended the annual awards banquet which was held at the Rec Centre in Waterloo. Scott had obviously attended this banquet when he was younger and a reward recipient but it would be the first time for the rest of us!

Cheering as someone received an award.

There were about 2 hours worth of awards that were given out...it was a bit much.

Poser

Can't really get him to smile properly these days...

Jacob's newest face that he pulls out for the camera.

Likely how Jacob learned it...

Logan receiving a trophy for winning the Father Son portion of the Family Twosome tournament.

It's a big trophy!

Scott must have helped win that trophy.

Checking it out.

Very serious. (I told you, it's big!)

Had to pull out a sucker to keep Jacob quiet for a while...

Receiving a trophy for having perfect attendance through the league season.

If you have to miss a week of bowling, you can bowl sometime during the week and submit your scores so you can still help out your team!
Checking out some more badges that he received. I have some sewing to do before bowling starts next fall.

Happy guy!

Pretty good haul for his first year of bowling!

Jacob liked to check out his reflection in the trophy while he made his "funny face".
The awards part was long but it was followed by a yummy supper! Bowling starts again in September and I'm sure Logan's already looking forward to it!
