Christmas in Norwich

After we had been to visit Grandma, we headed to Norwich to spend the afternoon there. What mom and dad didn't know was that Scott (my husband) was not actually working but driving to the airport to pick up Pamela who had flown home to spend a few short days with us over the holidays.

Logan playing the piano. Usually the piano is closed up but Logan was very gentle and loved playing. We eventually did close it though.

Jacob is starting to really grab at and play with his toys. Here he is on the couch at grandma and grandpa's house.

Playing with his monkey - one of his favourite toys right now.

The "kids" Christmas tree in the basement.

Scott and Pamela arrived as we were eating dinner. Mom and dad were so surprised! We all finished dinner and headed out to church as a family; it's been several years since we all went to church together on Christmas Eve.

Since Pamela was only staying until Boxing Day, we decided to spend the night at mom and dad's so we could spend some more time with her.

Logan and Aunt Pamela before bed.

Logan awoke very early on Christmas morning (I think it was 5:45am!) and then we all assembled in the living room around 7am to open gifts together. We didn't bring all of our presents with us, we decided to do "our" Christmas when we were home on Boxing Day.

Pamela totally excited to have a stocking even though mom had already sent her one in the mail and had no idea she was coming home!

Mom totally confused by her gift...she had no idea what it was.

Jacob woke up around 8am and joined in on the fun.

Aunt Pamela helping Jacob open a gift. (It was a Canada track suit. She gave one to each of them, I was so excited!)

Christmas morning tradition - cinnamon buns!

My parents and Pamela and Scott headed off to London to spend the day with my dad's family. We hung out at their place for a bit and then travelled to New Hamburg to spend the rest of the day with Scott's family (where I took no pictures).

It was so fun to be in Norwich and to have Pamela home to celebrate with!

A Visit with Great Grandma

Here begins some catch up posts...

On Christmas Eve, my brother Scott picked Logan, Jacob and I up and the 4 of us headed to Woodstock to visit my grandma. It had been WAY too long since we'd seen her last and she hadn't even met Jacob yet.

We found her waiting in the hall outside her room to go to lunch. She was very surprised and happy to see us and we wheeled her back to her room. Logan had made some chocolate for her so we gave her that as well as some updated pictures of the boys.

Logan and Great Grandma...he held onto Blue Bear VERY tightly during this visit.

I offered Grandma to hold Jacob and she didn't want to at first but I gave him to her anyways and she had a great time holding him. He smiled at her quite a bit and was happy to sit with her.

Getting a good picture is another story...

I know she looks scared in this picture, but she wasn't, I promise!

I asked Scott to take one of the boys and Grandma and I...they turned out as well as the others, haha. Logan was certainly not cooperating.

Not a bad pic.

We visited for a little bit before we took Grandma to the dining room for her lunch. We took her over to her table and the boys were a hit. Everyone wanted to see them and talk to them. Jacob smiled at everyone; one gentleman even gave him a quarter for his piggy bank! Logan was happy to be up in Uncle Scott's arms...

It was a good visit. It is my hope to go and see her more often, so hopefully there will be more pictures!

Christmas Tree 2009

We ventured out last Friday to pick out our tree. For the last few years, we have found our tree at Benjamin's Tree Farm just outside of Waterloo so we went there again. We bundled everyone up at home as it was the coldest day of the winter so far (but still not very cold and NO snow).

Jacob all ready to go.

Logan in the car, wondering what we are doing now.

We took the stroller with us in case Logan wasn't interested in walking or in case we had to go quite far to get the tree. He rode in the stroller (Jacob in the carrier) until we got to the tree that we had selected; I think he just wasn't sure what was going on; and then he was out and ready to help.

The tree we selected.

Logan checking it out.

Posing with the tree (Jacob was sleeping). Logan doesn't look too impressed here.

Watching as daddy cuts down the tree.

Peaceful sleeping baby. (This is mostly just proof that he was there!)

Getting ready to pull the tree to the car.

Daddy's little helper.

Logan LOVED helping Scott pull the tree back. He smiled the whole way.

This was about the point that the camera battery died. I hate how our camera never gives warning that the battery is dying and just dies. I should take the extra one with me, but I always forget.

So you'll have to just imagine, without pictures. We then had the tree shook, trimmed and put in a bag and then headed inside for some cider and cookies. I don't have the pictures from last year on this computer yet, but I remember that last year, Logan wasn't walking yet, things certainly change a lot!

When we got home, I made everyone stay in the car while I ran inside to get the other camera battery, haha.

The tree on top of the car.

Logan showing off his "McDonalds Orange Drink" face...

Sitting on the tree.

A close up.

Jacob waiting in the car for someone to rescue him. He'd been sleeping and the poor guy's eye was stuck closed, that's why it looks a bit funny.

Bringing the tree into the house.

Admiring the new addition to the living room.

Jacob watching as we try to straighten the tree.

Logan still helping...or at least trying to.

We put the star and the lights on that night but only just had time to decorate the tree last night.

And, the finished product!

Still Not Much Going On....

So not much has been happening in the last week but I have managed to get some pictures to post.

Logan found these oven mitts in the Christmas box and ran around with them on for a long time. He actually was much happier than the picture shows...

Scott's parents came by for a visit on Saturday. Here's Jacob with Grandma Miller. (Logan took an early nap that day for some reason and slept through most of their visit).

Jacob with Grandpa Miller and his new piggy bank.

On Sunday we attended the baptism of our friend's twins, William and Emma. It was a nice service and we were then able to join them after church for lunch.

Logan listening intently.

For some reason, my camera doesn't take very clear pictures in their church. This is a great shot anyways of Emma being baptized.

And one of William too.

We're still trying to get out of the house as much as we can before the snow flies but we're also finding more ways to stay entertained at home too. Logan is getting much better at playing with his toys both by himself and with me. Right now one of his FAVOURITE things to do is read books. We read SO many books in a day, we could never have enough books, I don't think.

Some other highlights for Logan include; checking the mail (still has an obsession with the mail man), setting the table, being the first one to greet Jacob when he wakes up; having naked time and bath time.

Working on some Christmas crafts.

Jacob had a doctor's appointment yesterday to receive the second half of his 2 month vaccination. He weighed in at 9lbs 15.5oz. Still far from being a heavyweight but he's happy and healthy.

Playing with his toys this morning.

Just today I noticed Jacob reaching for and purposely batting at the toys hanging from his playmat. He gets a very determined look on his face as he tries to reach them, it's pretty cute.

Still trying to get a decent picture of the two of them...

This afternoon Logan helped me make dinner. He wanted to taste everything. So he had raw sweet potato (or orange potato as he calls it), a piece of red onion, a taste of BBQ sauce, maple syrup, apple juice, chili powder and cinnamon. He loved it all...or at least said YUM after each taste.

Look mom, orange potato!

Trying out the onion.

Tomorrow we're hoping to get our Christmas tree. It will definitely be a muddy experience which will be "fun" with Logan but I'm hoping it doesn't rain on us! Pictures to follow soon.
